Does Fate really exist or does the condition mentioned prevent time travel?

Take the example of the female robot in terminator, imagine she came from future and inserted malicious artificial intelligence program into the robots in our life.These robots would at a later point of time and invent the female robot who did it thus creating a confusing cycle. or is it that this contradiction prevents us from traveling in time???
